About Our Backpacker Hostel In Melbourne
“Why don’t you start running a backpackers’ hostel?”, said our children, who had themselves backpacked at one time or another. They knew well how backpackers’ hostels work and they helped us understand it. So, we took their advice and started our little hostel in 2012 with just 28 beds. Over time, our small business has grown. Currently, we have 40 comfortable beds, and the hostel has become a well-established part of the hostel industry in Melbourne and Fitzroy.
Since 2012, we have welcomed thousands of backpackers and tourists who have made our hostel their Melbourne home. Some guests stay in our place for a few days or weeks whilst another group, the working traveller, stays for a long time and becomes a part of the growing hostel family.
At Tramstop 14, it doesn’t matter to us how long you are planning to stay. Whether you are staying for a short time or a long time, you will find that we have everything you will need to make your time in Melbourne relaxing and enjoyable. You will get the most of your stay in the company of your fellow residents at Tramstop 14 Backpackers Melbourne, located at 151-153 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.
Our Mission
Tramstop 14 has come a long way since opening in Fitzroy in 2012. What began as a small 28-bed operation has grown into one of Melbourne’s most welcoming independent hostels — a genuine alternative to hotels for travellers who want community, character, and value.
As a privately owned and operated hotel backpack in Melbourne, we aim to provide a comfortable place to stay for travellers and backpackers who are wandering around Melbourne. We foster and maintain a welcoming and communal atmosphere so that our guests can also enjoy. Beyond these, we always do our best to make travellers from different parts of the world feel at home.
